I was debating with myself for long. Should I take the original or the cover version? Both are great and special. Eventually, I’ve decided to take the cover version as the Song of the Week.
The reason is the language. Austrian Wolfgang Ambros (born 1952) recorded in 2000 twelve songs by Tom Waits which he translated in Viennese German.
To cover Tom Waits songs was for sure not an easy task. But Ambros mastered it, his versions are great and the album became very successful. Tom Waits’ Romeo is Bleeding was released in 1978 on the album Blue Valentine.
Title: Romeo verliert Bluat (Romeo is Bleeding)
Artist: Wolfgang Ambros
Released: 2000
Album: Ambros singt Waits – Nach mir die Sintflut
Tempo: 131 bpm
Dance: Lindy Hop
